SUMMARY:Support Local Housing Solutions - Share your ADU Experience
DESCRIPTION:Support Local Housing Solutions—Share Your ADU Experience \nThe Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Task Force is inviting property owners\, developers\, and residents involved in ADU projects in Baker\, Union\, or Wallowa County to share their experiences. An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a small\, additional residential unit located on the same lot as a primary home\, such as a backyard cottage\, converted garage\, or basement apartment. \nIn response to the region’s ongoing housing shortage\, the Rural Engagement and Vitality Center\, Northeast Oregon Economic Development District and other stakeholders created the ADU Task Force in April 2025to promote ADUs as a practical\, cost-effective housing solution. ADUs can expand long-term rental options\, support multi-generational living\, and increase homeowners’ income. The Task Force  is leading education efforts\, offering sample ADU plans\, hosting a ribbon-cutting event\, and providing financial tools to explain ADU costs and benefits. \nA key part of this project is collecting real-life stories from those who have gone through the ADU development process. These stories will become one-page case studies that can be  shared to inform and inspire Northeast Oregon communities. \nIf you have developed\, lived in\, or contributed to an ADU project in Baker\, Union\, or Wallowa County\, your experience matters. Complete our short questionnaire [LINK] to share your perspective and help others make a decision about developing an ADU. \nFor more information about the ADU Task Force and its activities\, contact Chantal Ivenso at chantalivenso@neoedd.org or 541-426-3598 x4. \n*** \nNEOEDD’s mission is to contribute to a vibrant rural economy by providing consulting\, training\, financing\, referrals and other assistance to businesses\, entrepreneurs\, local governments and non-profit organizations in Northeast Oregon.
